Nawabzada Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti: A Glamour Politician of Mardan

Even known for his mercurial political temperament,Nawabzada Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti has always stayed a glamour politician not only amongst the ruling elite but also among the folk. His simplicity of life is probably a major factor in his ever-green popularity, that is independent of his political attachment. Sound character is another sweet trait of his personality.
Starting his political career in 1979, Khwaja Khan contested in local bodies’ election as an independent candidate and defeated his rival by a wide margin.
Khwaja for the first time joined Pakistan Peoples Party and in 1988 contested election for provincial assembly and defeated former governor retired Lt Gen Fazal-e-Haq.
Khwaja Muhammad Khan served as the provincial minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for tourism in 1989, and then the provincial minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for education from 1993 to 1996. In 2006, he, however, said bye to Pakistan People’s Party and joined Awami National Party (ANP).
He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency NA-9 (Mardan-I) as a candidate of ANP in general election, 2008.
In December 2011, he abandoned ANP to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). In December 2012, he, however, left the party and joined PPP again, accusing PTI Chairmain Imran Khan of frequently changing his views.
